Augmentative (AAC) METHODS FOR HOME & COMMUNITY

Date: September 6, 2023
Time: 1:00 – 2:00 pm

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Child's hands holding three pictures. One on left is a figure of a person that says I (me). Middle picture is two hands that says want. The picture on the right is an apple.

Too often families and caregivers struggle with how to carry over augmentative communication with their child/adult in the home or community.  Taking it outside of the therapeutic environment can seem challenging, and at times, overwhelming.  This session will discuss strategies and resources to do just this.  Making communication natural, fun, and functional helps motivate both the augmentative communication user and the people that are supporting them, ultimately helping to make their communication more purposeful, meaningful, independent, and effective.
