An estimated 17% of Mainers over 65 years old have dementia. This webinar will discuss low and high tech assistive technology devices to promote safety and independence for people with dementia. Technology areas covered will include monitoring and surveillance, smart home technology, medication management, orientation aids, daily living aids, and communication. We will also discuss possible ethical concerns with technology use and hidden costs. Participants will leave this webinar with a broad understanding of the types of assistive technology available as well as knowledge of some specific items that support safety and independence for this population.
