Brief Intro
The Assistive Technology Advisory Council (ATAC) meets quarterly to provide the program with insights from assistive technology consumers and other agencies from around the state. These insights are used to identify gaps in services and areas in need of program development.
Meeting Dates
The ATAC meets quarterly, on the third Thursday in January, April, July and October. (Insert link to calendar) The meetings are held virtually via Zoom.

The ATAC has two types of members, consumers and agencies. Consumers are people with a disability who use AT, or their family members/guardians.ATAC Member Roles
Maine CITE is federally funded by the 21st Century Assistive Technology Act (AT ACT) which provides guidelines and requirements for the program activities. ATAC members provide advice and feedback to help Maine CITE perform these activities laid out in the “State Plan for assistive technology” submitted to the US Department of Health and Human Services; and provide a stakeholder voice about issues related to access to and acquisition of assistive technology in Maine.
ATAC Member Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in all ATAC quarterly meetings. Maine CITE plans to begin having one in-person meeting per year. The in-person meeting will also have a virtual option. Maine CITE does not pay ATAC members. However, consumer members can be reimbursed for travel costs to in-person meetings.
- Serve as a liaison between Maine CITE and the community, promoting and sharing Maine CITE’s mission.
- Participate in identification and exploration of new opportunities for funded programs to increase access to and acquisition of assistive technology devices and services in Maine.
- Assist in educating others about AT devices and service available through Maine CITE and other state resources.
- Advocate for the establishment/maintenance/improvement of state and federal laws, policies, and appropriations which support the Maine CITE’s assistive technology initiatives, enhancing access to and acquisition of assistive technology.
